Geneva Swiss Bank (GS Banque SA) offers a unique balance between long-standing Geneva Private Banking tradition, and an entrepreneurieal mindset. This alchemy results in what we like to call Modern Private Bankers, where authenticity, integrity, entrepreneurship and ingeniousness meet in a boutique-sized structure. Our novel, yet family-oriented culture has its roots in the vision of its two historical founders, Bénédict Hentsch and Robert Pennone – a panoramic vision, in which your assets are viewed from a global perspective.
Bénédict Hentsch was born in a family whose name has been synonymous with Geneva’s Private Banking tradition for seven generations. Bénédict was a Senior Partner at Darier Hentsch & Cie, before its merger with Lombard Odier. He has over 30 years’ experience in the area of asset management, with an especially in-depth knowledge of LatAm markets, where he spent ten years working for J.P. Morgan.
Our Bank's other original co-founder, Robert Pennone, is an expert in wealth engineering and corporate finance. He acquired his extensive expertise of the legal and tax aspects of the Swiss banking industry, by playeing an active role in the consolidation of that industry, while he headed Ernst & Young’s European M&A market. For more than 40 years, Robert has been at the root of many entrepreneurial ventures in financial services.
Banque Bénédict Hentsch was originally founded in 2004, and rebranded Geneva Swiss Bank (GS Banque SA) in 2014, when Bénédict Hentsch retired.
Our Bank complies with all relevant Swiss banking regulations, and holds all of the licenses required to operate under the supervision of the FINMA (the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority). You can request a copy of our latest Annual Report here.
Like other financial institutions, our Bank faced many structural and cyclical challenges since 2004, among which the 2008 financial crisis, Lehman Bro.s’ bankruptcy, the large-scale Madoff fraud, and the general outcry against Swiss banking secrecy laws. Successfully overcoming these pitfalls honed our people’s resilience and ingeniousness, which are now among the core values of our Bank.
